Growing up in the chaos of Sengoku-era Japan, Shinmen Takezo is a wild, violent young man shunned by his own village. After surviving the devastating Battle of Sekigahara, he's forced to abandon his old identity and become someone new: Miyamoto Musashi, a wandering swordsman in relentless pursuit of mastery. Loosely based on Eiji Yoshikawa's classic novel, Takehiko Inoue's Vagabond is widely regarded as one of the greatest manga ever drawn — a meditation on violence, purpose, and the cost of greatness told through breathtaking, painterly artwork.
